Thought Bubble: ...Green-eyed Monster much?

Although I usually dabble in the fashion and beauty departments to post on my blog, I've decided to take things a little deeper, and a little more personal than this season's latest trends...

Ever find yourself hating on someone? An example is teen 'pop sensation' Miley Cyrus, My choix du-jour on the chopping block. But do you ever wonder why you hate, but secretly look up pictures on FaceBook or Google of him or her in your spare time? I'd say it's jealousy. And although it's said to be one of the seven 'deadly sins', sometimes it's hard to be confident and happy with yourself 24/7. Doesn't Miley Cyrus seem to have it all? A fashion line with Max Azria, music career, roles in movies, cameos in popular tv shows, ect. But looking deeper into my complete annoyance with her, I've come to terms with my ugly jealousy. "I can act wayyyy better than her" or "I could design clothes with Max Azria a million times better!" are among statements I bet a lot of us have made. But thinking about the shallow-ness of spite towards others makes you think "why can't I just be happy for them, and be greatful for what I have" ...doesn't it?

So next time you're hating on some one who's probably talented, thin, smart, or beautiful, aknowledge the fact that it's likely to be envy, hurt, or an ugly little thing called... jealousy.

Beauty Alert! Fish Lips!

Lately, I'm constantly re-applying my new coral coloured lipstick. I am taking some credit for this trend! I bought the orangy-redish-pink colour a while back and have been sporting it ever since. Anyways, new trends I've heard about? Brownish putty coloured nails, bright coral lipstick, and pastel coloured eye shadows. Check, check and check! Cute right? Just make sure you keep the bright lipstick the 'high light' of the outfit.

Trend Alert! Influence: Avatar.

Although I'm yet to see the movie, the strange blue cat-like creatures on 'Avatar' has everyone going wild, including designers Valentino and the notoriously insane (in a good way!) Jean Paul Gaultier. Their models struted down the runway wearing strips of brightly coloured savage frills, tribal-inspired jewlery, and sharp braided hairstyles decked with palmfronds. Editors of vogue also took place in the 'Avatar' frenzy, by shooting a 10 page fashion feature in a mossy forest, while models sported tribal tatoos. Now I'm off on my two week-long trip to the Virgin Islands to bathe in the sun, the Caribbean never goes out of style!

Beauty Alert! White On!

During New York fashion week, Gwen flaunted her white nails by Dashing Diva (the colour is called NYC Fleet Week, $8) It's a fun change for Spring because I'm already tired of dark nails (I say while trying to not smudge the white nail polish on the keyboard...)

Beauty Alert! Braid-y Bunch.

This season, braids have become a runway favorite. Alexander Wang, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, and Matthew Williamson are among the designers in favor of the trend. Long, messy side braids are my personal favourite.

Trend Decline! UGG-ly.

Although Uggs were 'in' a few years ago, the style was very much ephemeral. So girls, do yourself a  favour and retire the Uggs into the closet... Perferably the back of the closet!

Beauty Alert! Star Bright.

The new Spring 2010 lip palette contains vibrant colours like shocking fusia, and cherry red. You'd have to be a real dare-devil to try this one! Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
